英ジャズ誌『Jazzwise』が年間ベスト・アルバムを発表！トップ２はチャールズ・ロイドとウェイン・ショーター

英国のジャズ専門誌『Jazzwise』が、今年の年間ベスト・アルバムを発表した。

今年の１位は、チャールズ・ロイドとそのユニット、ザ・マーヴェルスによるアルバム『Vanished Gardens』。２位は、ウェイン・ショーターが約５年ぶりに発表したアルバム『Emanon』。

同ランキングは英批評家たちによる世論調査をもとに割り出されたもの。近年、若者を中心に再燃する英国のジャズ人気だが、今年は米国のレジェンド２人をはじめ、上位のほとんどを米国勢が占める形となった。

注目は、３位を獲得したサンズ・オブ・ケメット（Sons of Kemet）。英国の新世代ジャズ・シーンにおいてカリスマ的人気を誇るサックス奏者シャバカ・ハッチングスが率いるバンドだ。米国勢が上位を占める中、英国アーティストとして唯一上位にランクインしたことでも、新世代ジャズ勢の人気が高まっていることを伺うことができる。
